For young Catholics, First Reconciliation prepares the heart for First Holy Communion by fostering a life of conversion, repentance, and trust in God’s mercy. The Eucharist, in turn, is the sacrament that completes the healing begun in Penance, deepening the bond with Christ and the Church.

In summary:

• First Reconciliation is about healing and restoring grace through conversion and confession.
• First Holy Communion is about deepening union with Christ and the Church through the Eucharist.

Both are sacraments of healing, rooted in the CCC’s teaching on sin, forgiveness, and the transformative power of God’s grace.

Preparation for First Holy Communion is a 2-year program.

• In the first year (typically 1st grade) we prepare the students for their First Reconciliation.   Classes are held at 10:30 every 3rd Sunday of the month, October through May.
• In the second year (typically 2nd grade) we prepare the students for First Holy Communion.  Classes are held twice a month on the first Saturday at 3:00 pm and the third Sunday at 10:30 am each month, October through May.

Students and families are also required to attend the F.I.R.E. Program on the first Saturday of every month, starting with 4:30 mass and concluding by 7:15 pm.
